a wonderful lunch!
WALK 1. 5.5 mile (8.8km) (never attempted by my good self!)
From our car park join the track along the caravan site. Continue ahead through two metal kissing gates.
When the path splits bear right onto the Heart of England Way. Continue ahead passing the charming 13c St Milburga church on your left.
Carry straight on at the track cross roads up a private access lane and public footbath to the side of the large blue wrought iron gates.
Pass through a kissing gate and turn left to continue along the lane, around several bends going uphill. You will see Oversely Castle up on the hilltop.
On reaching the gateway marked private, turn left on the heart of England way along a track with the hedge to your left. At the T junction turn right onto the heart of England way. Pass Castle Cottage on your left.
When the track forks, soon after, bear right (NOT heart of England way) heading towards Oversley Wood.
At the corner of the woodland look for a way marker post covered in directional arrows. Turn Left, taking the direction of the bridleway and walking with the wood on your right.
Continue down a grassy track as far as a surfaced path and turn right here to enter the wood.
At the path T junction turn left.
Follow the path ignoring all minor paths to the right and left, to a large fork in the track.
Take a right-hand fork and carry on around the woodland on this circular path.
After just 2 miles you’ll return to the point you entered the woods.
Turn left and then left again on the bridleway tack to retrace your route back to Wixford to much needed refreshments and a delicious lunch with us at The Fish!!

WIXFORD to BROOM WALK 3 Short approx. 50 minutes (Sadly not suitable for elderly dogs or folk)
From our car park cross the road and clamber over the small stile. Follow the path ahead passing a sometimes-magnificent waterfall (maybe a small exaggeration, dependent on rainfall). Climb the stile and strike out straight ahead. You will cross several stiles which can be challenging. At the end of this track you will arrive in the lovely village of Broom with (should I say) the gastropub-The Broom Tavern. However, your sights are firmly set on a wonderful lunch at The Fish so march onwards! From the main road outside this eatery, forge straight ahead crossing the bridge over the river arrow. Immediately on your right you will spy a small layby leading to a footpath/ right of way. Follow this over three undulating fields all the way back towards the main road. Climb the short flight of steps upwards, turn right and follow your nose back to the bridge at The Fish.
